Uganda Rafting and wild life Safari is great combination, taking you to Mabira Rainforest, Rafting on the Nile and the Savannahs of Murchison Falls Park with its wildlife.
Day 1: Mabira Rain Forest and Source of the River Nile Tour
Leave Kampala at 7 am and head down the Jinja highway arrive at Mabira Rainforest, here have an opportunity to view a magnificent forest with its trees, plants, mammals, monkeys and birds. It is one of the last remaining rainforests in the Central area of Uganda. Uganda is where the West African Rainforests meet East Africa and Mabira is most magnificent example of the beauty found elsewhere of the rainforests in Western Uganda. After a nice long morning walk we head off to Jinja where we go to the source of the Nile and see where John Speke “discovered” what is known today as the source of the Nile. You can take a boat ride on the Nile and go right to where Lake Victoria and the Nile meet.
The Source of the Nile Park is simply lovely and lots of opportunities to take pictures from flowers to the Nile and its fishermen. Afterwards it is lunch at a chosen eating place along the Nile where you can have Chinese, Indian, Continental and Ugandan food. During the afternoon, we’ll have a drive through Jinja town visiting some of the crafts shops along the streets, viewing the historic buildings. In the late afternoon we drive off to our full board accommodations as per the booking.
Day 2: White Water Rafting on the Nile
After breakfast, depart t the gathering place for the rafting/kayaking experience. You will be briefed when you get here. Remember that it is not just any River, but the Nile, the longest river in Africa, flowing south to north. Refreshments will be enjoyed after a fantastic day and then back to the hotel for a fantastic dinner with stories to tell.
Day 3: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
Early Breakfast and off we go to Murchison Falls National Park, nice scenery along the way. We stop for lunch in the town of Masindi and have lunch at the Masindi Hotel. The Masindi Hotel is the oldest Hotel in Uganda built by the Ugandan Railroad in 1923 and it has certainly seen many a guests there including Kathryn Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart who stayed there for the making of portions of the African Queen. Masindi is also the place where Ernest Hemingway recovered from injuries in two airplane mishaps near MurchisonFalls. He stayed for a few days at the Masindi Hospital. After lunch it is back on the road to Murchison Falls.
We move into the park and head for the top of Murchison Falls. The ground trembles as you approach the falls, you can see the Nile 50 meters wide and then it plunges down through a 7-8 meter gorge 47 meters downward. There is an eternal rainbow created by the mist from the falls…you glance out and see the Nile gently moving toward its destiny,Sudan, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.
After this most awesome experience we head for the chosen accommodation at Murchison Falls National Park and check in. Enjoy your dinner, in some cases overlooking the Nile, listen to the sounds of the African night.
Day 4: Game Drive in Murchison Falls National Park
Early Breakfast and off for a morning game drive. See the sun rise over the savannah and enjoy watching the lions, antelopes, elephants, giraffes, Buffaloes, birds and more along the way.We return for a break and lunch, enjoy an afternoon break. In the afternoon we go for a boat ride on the Nile and often the highlight of the trip to Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy, take pictures of Hippopotamus, Buffaloes, crocodiles, birds, monkeys, elephants and of course the fabulous falls themselves. One interesting note is that Idi Amin himself took a French News Crew here and pointed out the crocodiles along the way. You can see the video on Google video, it is worthwhile seeing. Back to your lodging for dinner and rest in the African Wilderness.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest
An early morning drive at dusk, then breakfast at the lodging and off we go for our journey, but it is not over yet…we go on to tracking (trekking) chimpanzees and that will be another fantastic time for you.
