The Bwindi Forest is situated in South Western Uganda. Bwindi Forest Park is home to over half of the world’s remaining Mountain Gorillas and gorilla tracking is the main reason for one to visit Bwindi. More than 300 gorillas are staying in Bwindi in the different gorilla families. The ultimate primate experience, a challenging trek through thick African bush, with the breathtaking reward of finding oneself in the company of a family of Mountain gorillas.
Apart from mountain gorilla trips in Bwindi, the park is a home of about 346 birds species and over 200 butterflies of different types. There are 324 tree species here, 10 of which are found nowhere else in Uganda and some are medicinal trees. This is truly a safari destination to Adventure and explore.
Details of Itinerary :
Day 1: Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Today enjoy surely, after breakfast you will be met by our driver guide who will greet you and brief you through the itinerary and after, we drive heading to southwestern Uganda for an approximate nine hour journey . En route, there is a local community popular for making local drums and crafts and a fruit market. Stopover, admire and buy your self souvenirs. Proceed to the Equator line taken as one beautiful scenery in Africa – the pathway of the sun and take photographs, We drive through stunning volcanic landscape adorned with steep sided hills covered from top to bottom in neatly terraced plantations of bananas, tea and thick montane forests to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The Bwindi area is a highly fertile, mountainous region with steep sided hills covered from top to bottom in neatly terraced rows of cultivation. You are really driving through the “Banana Republic” with banana plantations all around you, steep hills, small rivers……just amazing scenery. Arrive late afternoon at the park and check-in at accommodation.
Day 2: Gorilla Trek
This morning you will have breakfast served early and assemble at the Headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for Yours truly, briefing and meeting with park rangers who will lead escort you for your gorilla trek.Then it is time off for your own jungle tracking in the mist experience. Tracking mountain gorillas through this magnificent and mysterious thick gorilla forest where there is a lot to spot out as you search for Mountain Gorillas. The fauna and flora, bird species, mammals, butterflies, primates will be most beautiful and only enhance this very special day.The Mountain gorilla trek can involve some serious hiking and climbing but you have the chance to meet the Gentle Giants face to face, talking to them, observing them just a few meters from your group, take some photos of mothers feeding their babies, the gorillas doing their daily routine and you are there Only in this small section of Africa where the remaining mountain gorillas are found and tracked in their natural environment.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala
Depart early for the return drive to Kampala. Stop just after Masaka town at Mpambiire drum village to see the Ugandan drum craftsmen at work. We arrive back in Kampala in the early evening, at approximately 6pm. Your tour ends upon return.
